The Christie Pits Riot 90th Commemoration

The Ontario Jewish Archives is partnering with the Toronto District School Board’s Jewish and Italian Heritage Committees to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Christie Pits Riot for Jewish and Italian heritage months. At the centre of this exciting program is a live onsite theatrical performance by Hogtown Productions, created by Sam Rosenthal and Drew Carnwath with music by Measha Brueggergosman. The program is designed for grades 8 & 10.

The OJA is seeking 2-3 volunteers per show. They will work under the guidance of Hogtown Productions’ stage managers who will position them in certain areas around the northern end of Christie Pits park. They will have several duties including:

  • Greeting groups at their point of arrival (Christie subway station & Crawford St.) and guiding late comers to the correct starting point.
  • Acting as guide, moving the audience members scene to scene.
  • Holding up a small sign that says “SHOW IN PROGRESS”
