Community Activities and Relations

Relationships among Jews and non-Jews in Peterborough over the years have been, for the most part, very good. The Jewish community produced many outstanding individuals, men and women, who took leadership roles in all aspects of the general community life. Dr. and Mrs. Louis Zacks, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Low, Mr. and Mrs. Cherney, Ruth Moldaver, Isadore Black and others were among those involved in the arts and culture, in business, professional and university affairs, and in a whole range of service organizations. As well, good inter-community relations were fostered through the Peterborough chapter, established around 1953, of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews.
