Population

In 1971 there were 140 Jewish residents in North Bay according to Census returns. By 1978, however, there were only twelve students in the cheder school program. The shul held no weekly service and davening occurred primarily on High Holidays. In 1981, there were 125 Jewish residents in North Bay, a number which fell more than 50 percent by the 1991 Census to only 60. It may be that this number is an exaggeration of the downward trend. Certainly not all Jewish residents may have identified themselves on the Census returns. By 2001, there were 110 Jewish residents in North Bay, indicating that a new upward trend is to be expected in the years to come, as more new families move to North Bay.
