Population


Jewish immigration to Owen Sound began in the late 19th century and the population grew slowly to around 18 people by the turn of the 20th century. Numbers increased over the next two decades to reach about 72 in 1921. With some fluctuations in between, the population reached about 87 in 1941. After the Second World War, the numbers declined to 79 in 1951. It shrank further, to 64 in 1961. In recent years, however, the Jewish population of Owen Sound has been on the rise again.
