Social Activities
The newsletter Nudnik has been maintained by Eleanor Jourard, who also continues to serve as the congregation’s secretary. In 2007, Miri Cohen took over from Joe Burke as the president of the Sons of Jacob. Joe Burke, a local tailor and business owner for over 50 years, had been president for the previous 15 years and remains active with the congregation. The Hebrew school teacher was listed as Rabbi Shiriki. Other members of the executive committees included Skip and Shari Thorley, Judie Miller and Abbey Nash. The synagogue executive remains responsible for maintaining the synagogue’s charitable fund, contact with CJC and Zionist organizations, as well as the cemetery.
In recent years there has not been enough of a membership to maintain an active Hadassah chapter, although the Ladies Auxiliary still exists through the executive of the Sons of Jacob Congregation. Its president in 2005 was long-time member and past-president Ethel Burke.
