Community Activities and Relations

Besides participating in Jewish organizations, many members of the community became involved in non-Jewish groups as well. Mitchell Spiegel, who still lives in Sudbury today, notes that "everyone in Sudbury was part of everything." Spiegel adds that "we were so few, you know, and the others were so many, and everyone integrated into the community." Concluding that "it didn't make us any less Jewish!" In fact, a 1953 community survey determined that 68 members of the community at that time belonged to non-Jewish organizations and clubs and 44 to non-Jewish sporting clubs.
