Community Activities and Relations

In addition to their dedication to the Jewish community locally and globally, Jews in Kitchener have forged many ties to the general Kitchener-Waterloo community. They served and sacrificed in the First and Second World Wars. And even though the German heritage of the majority sometimes added tension to community relations, the community leadership of prominent Kitchener-Waterloo Jews like Rabbi Rosensweig and Harold Paiken contributed to mutual respect between the Jewish and the non-Jewish residents. Finally, Jews contributed time and talent to many community activities such as service clubs and recreational groups.
