The Cornwall Jewish Community Council

Unusually for a small town, Cornwall also had a central fundraising agency, the Cornwall Jewish Community Council. Representatives from the Beth El Synagogue, B'nai Brith, Beth El Sisterhood, Hadassah and ORT sat on the council. Funds raised were distributed to Jewish relief organizations in Canada, Israel and overseas and to Jewish institutions of learning in North America and in Israel. Fundraising occasions such as Israel Bonds dinners were also enjoyable social events. They helped strengthen the fabric of community while accomplishing shared goals.
