Ed Elkin
Rabbi
Ed Elkin became the rabbi at the Narayever in 2000, replacing
Chezi Zionce. Rabbi Elkin was born in Long Beach, Long
Island New York in 1962 and was educated at Princeton
in Religion (1984) and in Rabbinical Studies at the Hebrew
Union College. He previously held the position of Assistant
Rabbi at the Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom in Montreal for
three years. He was also a teacher of Jewish studies at
Bialik High School for three years and a part-time rabbi
at Congregation Hamelech in Kingston, Ontario. In 1996,
he moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to work for the
North Carolina Hillel Foundation as the Executive Director
of Jewish University Studies. Rabbi Ed Elkin is married
to Linda Lipsky, who is a professor of literature and
a Yiddish
poet.
