Kaplan & Sprachman was an architectural firm that was established in1922. During their partnership, Harold Kaplan and Abraham Sprachman completed many important structures for the Jewish community in the early to mid-twentieth century, such as the Shaarei Shomayim synagogue, the new Mount Sinai Hospital , Holy Blossom's religious school, Oakdale Golf and Country Club, the Primrose Club and the Toronto Jewish Community Centre on Bloor Street . They were best known for their more than 300 movie theatre projects completed during the 1920s to the 1960s. In 1937, they were awarded the bronze medal in the Sixth Biennial Toronto Exhibition for their interiors to the Eglinton Theatre, considered to be the finest example of their art deco design work.
