The Ontario Jewish Archives relies heavily on volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks such as: Identifying people in photographs, processing records, data input etc… Some of our volunteers have been with us for as long as twenty-five years.

Volunteering at the Archives is a positive experience that makes one feel closer to the community, enables people to learn more about the history of Jewish Ontario, and makes an important contribution to this institution. Volunteering is also a good way to pick up new skills for individuals who are interested in history and archives. We have already helped trained several people who have considered pursuing a career in archives.

Some of our volunteers work on special projects such as web design or outreach initiatives. We encourage high school students to come in on their days off from school and volunteer at the OJA. We are happy to fill out their forms and assist with the process of helping them fulfill their volunteer requirements.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, please consult our volunteer policy. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Ellen Scheinberg, Director of the Ontario Jewish Archives.
